Daguerreotype of a Father and Daughter by H.C. Booth
From the Victorian Photograph Collection of Jennifer Carnell

This quarter plate daguerreotype was taken in the 1840s and is by Hiram Crompton Booth of the Royal Parade, Harrogate.
When I originally bought this I assumed it was 1850s, but a couple of years later I saw another daguerreotype for sale of the man seated at the same table; I didn't buy it, but the daguerretype had the signature of Richard Beard on a patentee label which, unless the daguerreotype had been placed in the wrong case by a later owner or dealer, would suggest an earlier date.
